The Mix project was awarded a £4.75m myplace grant from the Department for Education (DfE).

The Department for Education (DfE) is now responsible for the Myplace scheme. The Big Lottery Fund delivers myplace on behalf of DfE. Additional funding has been secured from the Partnership for School's Co-location fund.

The lead organisation is Suffolk County Council’s Children and Young People’s Directorate. Other partners include Suffolk Police, Mid Suffolk District Council, Stowmarket Town Council, Young Suffolk and Suffolk Business Link East.

The formal planning application was unanimously approved by Suffolk County Council’s development control committee on July 21, 2010. Planning consent from the Secretary of State Communities & Local Government for building within a conservation area was achieved in September 2010.

Work has commenced on site with early enabling works in April 2011, a construction start date of July 2011, and a construction completion date of June 2012. It is envisaged that the building will be fully operational in late 2012.
